Pool Demolition & Removal

Unused pool costing you money and yard? We remove pools two ways: partial removal (break the shell, punch drainage holes, engineered backfill) or full removal (entire shell out, clean compacted fill). Both include haul-off and leave a yard you can actually use — or build on.

Two ways to remove a pool: a partial removal / fill-in breaks down the top of the shell, perforates the bottom for drainage, and backfills with compacted material — the economical route where future building isn't planned. A full removal takes out the entire shell and backfills with engineered, tested fill so the footprint can be built over. Your city and your future plans determine the right choice; permits are required for both in most jurisdictions.

Pool Demolition & Removal: Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to remove a pool?

Partial fill-ins are the economical option and full removals cost more — the spread depends on pool size, access, and haul-off distance. Both include demolition, backfill, compaction, and haul-off in our quotes. Call for a firm free estimate.

Can I build on top of a removed pool?

Only after a full removal with engineered fill compacted and tested in lifts — the compaction report is what lets the building department approve construction over the old footprint. A partial fill-in generally can't be built over and must be disclosed when you sell.

Do I need a permit to remove a pool?

In most LA and Ventura county jurisdictions, yes — demolition permits for either method, plus engineering for full removals. We help navigate the requirements for your city.
