After Debris Removal, Before the Build

Fire Rebuild Grading & Lot Preparation

For families rebuilding after the region's fires, there's a gap between the certified debris-removal sign-off and the first foundation form: re-grading, pad recertification, over-excavation per the new soils report, and utility trenches. That gap is exactly what we do.

Where we fit in a rebuild: once debris removal is certified, most lots aren't buildable yet — the pad the old house sat on typically needs scarifying and recompaction (or over-excavation and engineered fill) to today's code, verified by a soils engineer, plus trenches for new utility connections. We sequence that work with your architect, soils engineer, and builder so the rebuild isn't waiting on dirt.

A word for rebuild families

Rebuild schedules are emotional. We hold committed dates, communicate plainly, and don't pile change orders on people who've already lost enough. Firm written quotes, rock and access spelled out.

Fire Rebuild Grading: Frequently Asked Questions

Debris removal is done — can we build right away?

Usually not quite. Most jurisdictions require the building pad be recertified — recompacted and tested, or over-excavated and rebuilt with engineered fill — before foundation permits move. Your soils engineer defines the scope; we execute it, typically in days, not weeks.

Do you coordinate with our soils engineer and builder?

Yes — rebuild grading is a three-way dance between the geotech's report, the builder's schedule, and the county's inspection steps. We've built our rebuild workflow around exactly that sequence.
